To help you configure your SCORM package, we offer you a quick questionnaire! ! Follow this link to get a configuration suggestion tailored to your needs.

1. What is SCORM?

SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) is a standard. It is a standard that formalizes exchanges between a training creation tool and a delivery tool, such as an LMS. Thanks to the SCORM standard, an authoring tool like Teach Up can generate a ZIP folder, called a SCORM package, which you can import into your LMS.

The SCORM standard allows you to define variables associated with the success of your learner in their training, success, score, and in some cases, progress. On Teach Up, you can configure the reporting of these elements to your LMS via your SCORM export. As illustrated in the table below, information flows between Teach Up and your LMS. You have control over the configuration of the reporting of some of this information.

Here is an illustration of the information that communicates between Teach Up and the LMS:.

Attention, to find the information on the format and the SCORM parameters required for import into your LMS platform, refer to the documentation of your platform. Our article gives you the elements to configure your SCORM packages according to your standards.

2. To configure a SCORM package and export it, go to the "Publish" tab

This tab is located in the navigation sidebar.

3. Configure the version of your SCORM package

"SCORM export version": choose the version compatible with your platform. Version 2004 is the most recent. Without instructions from your LMS, choose version 2004, which guarantees the best communication between the authoring tool and the LMS.

Select your LMS from the drop-down list provided. We recommend choosing your LMS from the list if it is offered. Some adaptations may be made to your SCORM export depending on your LMS to improve the reading of the training and the transmission of data. If your LMS is not listed, select the "Unknown" option.

4. Success, score, and progress in the SCORM standard

The SCORM 2004 standard allows you to define two variables associated with the success of your learner in their training: success and score. The SCORM 1.2 standard relies on a variable related to success called progress and on the score. On Teach Up, you can configure the reporting of these elements to your LMS via your SCORM export.

4.1 Success

This menu is specific to the SCORM 2004 version.

Success is a binary value that indicates whether the training is validated or not. This YES/NO model value can depend on several parameters.

In Teach Up, the "Success conditions" option: allows you to choose the success conditions that will make your module "validated" on your LMS platform. By default, success is defined by progress.

"Progress" is the fact that the participant progresses in their module. It reaches 100% as soon as they reach the end screen.

"Result" is the score of your participant. It corresponds to their success in the training. It is the final score obtained by the learner based on their answers to the questions. You can define a success threshold. By default, it is set at 70%. If the learner completes their training but their success is below the threshold defined by you, the training will not be marked as "validated" on your LMS.

The "none" option stops the transmission of your learner's success to the LMS. In this case, the display may vary depending on your LMS to inform you that there is no score for the learners.

By default, Teach Up offers you:

For modules and paths: success determined by progress
For evaluations: success determined by score (result)
In the SCORM 1.2, success is determined by progress. We invite you to configure this value correctly in the dedicated menu (see below).

Some LMS do not follow the SCORM standard regarding success configuration. For these LMS, the success we send via SCORM is not taken into account. Instead of success, the LMS allows you to define a threshold. This threshold will be based on the learner's score to determine whether their participation in the training is validated or not. In this configuration, it is essential to activate the option associated with the score (see below).

4.2 Score

This option is common to both SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 versions.

The score is the success rate of your participant in their training. This score is calculated based on correct answers to questions and the number of times the questions have been asked. In Teach Up, we talk about mastery.

In Teach Up, we recommend activating the following option: "Transmit the score to the LMS platform". This allows you to choose whether or not to transmit the score to your LMS platform. By default, this option is unchecked. Be sure to check this option if you want to send the maximum information possible to your LMS.

The "score" is calculated based on the correct answers given to the questions. If the learner makes a mistake and a question is asked multiple times during the training, the last answer is considered.

If no question is asked in your training, there will be no score reporting to your LMS. To ensure optimal information reporting to your LMS, we recommend creating at least one question with multiple educational games in your training. Activating multiple games will allow the question to be asked again if the learner makes a mistake, thus ensuring a score higher than 0%.

4.3 Progress

This option is specific to the SCORM 1.2 version and some LMS, it is not offered by default. You must select version 1.2 in the corresponding menu.

Progress determines what vocabulary will be used to discuss the learner's training status. This concept is related to success. You can select the pairs: Complete/Incomplete or Successful/Incomplete or Successful/Failed. The expected value to interpret success and progress may vary. Some LMS require a specific value to function. We recommend referring to the documentation of your LMS in the case of a SCORM 1.2.

5. Move on to the next training

Last option "Show a button on the last page of the training to move on to the next training": this option is offered by the SCORM standard. It allows chaining training within the LMS. The "next module reference" corresponds to a reference specific to your LMS. We invite you to contact your LMS to check its compatibility with this option and the desired reference.

Remember to click the "save" button to save your settings!

6. Download your SCORM package

Check the main settings of your SCORM package one last time with the global view. Then click the "download" button. The generated ZIP folder can be imported into your LMS.

7. Open and close access with one click

Select the option below if you want the training to be available:

8. Modifying your SCORM package

You can modify the settings of your SCORM package as many times as you want by clicking the "edit" button.

If you change the version of your SCORM (1.2 or 2004): it is necessary to download your SCORM package again and import it into your LMS.
If you change the name of your LMS: it is necessary to download your SCORM package again and import it into your LMS.
For all other settings: it is not necessary to download your SCORM package again. However, the changes will be applied to new learners. If you want the changes to be applied to old learners, you will need to reset their participation in the LMS so they can retake the training.
For all modifications on an OFFLINE SCORM: it is always necessary to download your SCORM package again and import it into your LMS.

9. What shows up in the Teach Up dashboard when the training is delivered in SCORM

_This is a specific option for certain subscriptions.

All the expected elements of your Teach Up dashboards will be present regardless of the delivery format. Here is the link to our article about dashboards.

To identify a learner, the LMS can use their email or an alphanumeric string called the SCORM ID. This SCORM ID may not be communicated to Teach Up by your LMS. In this case, the Teach Up dashboard will display the name and first name of your learner but not their email.
