Create an assessment

An assessment lets you measure your learners' knowledge, with a score, a passing score and a customized last page. This guide walks you through creating an assessment in your Teach Up studio and points to the detailed articles for each setting.

Create a new assessment

  1. In your studio, click “New activity”.
  2. Select “Assessment module” (1), then click “Create” (2).

On the next screen, fill in:

  • the “Language” (1): the language of the automatic instructions shown to the learner (such as the “Continue” button);
  • the “Department”, if this option is enabled on your account;
  • the title of the assessment (2), in the “Title of your assessment” field.

Then click “Go!” (3).

⚠️ Once the assessment is created, its language can no longer be changed. To offer it in another language, translate it: see Automatically translate a course, an assessment or a Coach Expert.

Get to know the editor

The assessment editor has three areas:

  1. the outline, on the left: the introductory content, the subsections and their questions, then the “Last page”. At the top: the passing score, the settings gear and the “Preview” button;
  2. the header: title, background (“Add background”), and the “Language”, “Main color”, “Accessibility”, “Logo” and “Department” settings;
  3. the content area: the introductory content and the questions of the selected part.

Add introductory content

Introductory content presents the assessment before the questions: objectives, instructions, context.

  1. Under “Introductory content”, click “Add content” (or the “+” between two contents).
  2. Choose the type of content: Text, Image, Document, List, Media, More or Social.

Add questions

Questions are the core of the assessment. To create them, choose the games offered, set the time limit or draw questions at random: Create and configure a question in an assessment.

Configure the assessment

The question types offered by default, the question order, the time limit and the passing score are set in the assessment settings: Configure global assessment settings.

Create subsections

You can split your assessment into thematic subsections, each with its own question order, time limit and score-based messages: Create and configure subsections within an assessment.

Configure the last page

The last page shows the learner their score, their results per subsection and, depending on your settings, the correction, the PDF results or the certificate of achievement: Configure the last page of an assessment.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the language of an assessment after creating it?

No, the language is set at creation. To offer the assessment in another language, translate it: see Automatically translate a course, an assessment or a Coach Expert.

Can assessment questions be generated with AI?

No, assessment questions are written manually.

Does an incomplete answer earn points?

No. A question only scores if the learner selects all the correct answers and no wrong answer. For example, for a question with two correct answers where only one is selected, the question scores 0. See Create and configure a question in an assessment.
